Prostate cancer A.I. Technology at Frimley Park Hospital, Camberley , Surrey
One in eight men are now diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, it is more prevalent than breast cancer and earlier diagnoses is urgently required.
Frimley Park Hospital are seeking 50 companies that can join forces to raise the money needed and form the very first Hospital Business Club, a dream team of companies from different industries that will come together to share connections, offer support and work together on some of the hospitals bigger projects, like this one to bring AI technology into the urology department.
Background:
Currently if a GP suspects a problem with someone’s prostate, they have what is known as PSA blood test, dependant on the result, the GP will refer to us for an MRI SCAN. This is in most cases arranged in the two-week time window set out by government guidelines. These scans are then viewed by an expert and reports are sent to our consultants. The consultants also review these reports and will make an appointment to conduct a biopsy. The results of the biopsy are sent away and screened and returned to our consultant to confirm if Cancer is present in the prostate. The patient will then be seen approximately a week to two weeks after this, and a plan for any treatment will be made. This can mean 6 to 8 weeks of anxiety, stress, and a significant fear of the unknown, not only for the patient, but for their family and friends.
What we need to improve this for prostate patients:
We would like to purchase specialist AI technology/software that will read the results of the MRI scan immediately , it will allow us to provide every patient with instantaneous feedback which will significantly reduce waiting times and will also create more capacity for our consultants to focus on performing more critical operations. This technology can also pin point cancer more accurately which will improve patients’ outcomes. We need this technology now as prostate cancer can be a silent killer with very few symptoms. This technology will save life’s, please be part of this solution standing shoulder to shoulder with other businesses that want to make a difference.
The cost to set this up is approx. £50k with on ongoing costs of £8k per year.
This technology can really reduce anxiety and a remove the need for a very painful procedure for our patients. It is game changing, and we need your help to make this happen. We would be so grateful if you would donate £1000.00 to us to help us and be part of our Hospital Business Club that is going to lead the way on innovative projects for the hospital, we always share our work, and this will also benefit other NHS trust’s and The Royal Marsden who we already work closely with. We will choose future projects as a consortium, and I hope support will lead up to the opening of the new Frimley Hospital in 2030.
Our senior consultant Simon Bott is working with me and the trust to bring this innovative technology to our hospital; there will be opportunities to meet him along the way and get closer to our hospital.
What are the next steps, please send me ‘YES I’m In’ email and I will send you a link showing you how to donate. As a founder member we will be working closely with you to ensure that we provide you with opportunities to celebrate our work and also create social media posts to help promote your involvement.
Thank you again for you time and support so far.
Many thanks.
